A Federal High Court sitting in Sokoto State has sentenced three Motors dealers to five years imprisonment each with an option of one hundred and twenty five thousand naira fine.

The convicted Motors dealers, Aminu Sahabi, owner of Sahabi Motors investment, Nasiru Muhammad Dan yabo Nagarta motors and Umar Muhammad of Daraja Motors, are convicted for failure to submit declarations of activities in line with the extant regulations on customers identification and interpretation of returns for transactions to the Special Control Unit of the EFCC by the presiding judge, Justice Ahmad Muhammad in Sokoto.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after the ruling,, council to the EFCC Barrister Habila Jonathan, said the defendants who pleaded guilty were arraigned before the court by the Special Control Unit Against Money Laundering of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC Sokoto state Command.

Barr. Habila Jonathan stressed that the exhibits tendered before the court were not rejected by the defendant’s council and was later marked as exhibits by the court.

He added that the ruling of the court would serve as a deterrent to all Motors dealers in the country.
