FG Begins Digitalized Registration For Beneficiaries Of GEEP

Federal Government says it will soon commence the Digitalized Registration for the Beneficiaries of Government Enterprise and Empowerment Program GEEP, across the 36 states of the Federation.

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajia Sadiya Umar Farouk stated this in Ilorin, Kwara state capital, during a training program on GEEP 2.0 Digital and Registration for the Community Orientation and Mobilization Officers of the National Orientation Agency, NOA across the 16 local governments areas of the state.

Hajia Sadiya said the essence of GEEP 2.0 by the Federal Government was to give access to credit facilities to poor and vulnerable people including people with disabilities.

She noted that the GEEP training program was designed to educate mobilization officers on how to digitize the raw data of beneficiaries for the federal government social investment programme.

The Minister who was represented by her Special Assistant on Monitoring and Evaluation, Mr Shehu Idiris noted that the new GEEP digitalization application has been preloaded on tablets and aimed to bring the officers up to date with new strategies and requirements for phase 2nd registration.

Mr Idris noted that the success of the program depends on the quality of data the mobilization officers can generate and it can only be achieved through the increased cooperation of the other stakeholders in the state.

He confirmed that the ministry had engaged enumeration consultants for the purpose of capturing all GEEP beneficiaries’ bio data across the 36 states and it has been verified and sent to the bank for disbursement.

The minister added that the Federal Government has successfully shortlisted its beneficiaries and it is in process of cash disbursement to the beneficiaries of the TraderMoni and Market Moni schemes respectively.

In a remark, the Director of the National Orientation Agency in Kwara State, Mr Olusegun Adeyemi Commended the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, for the various poverty eradication programme and for partnering with NOA in ensuring that qualified Nigerians are benefiting from the programme.
