Written by Yusuf Zubairu

Kaduna State University has concluded arrangement to resume academic activities after the Sallah Celebration.

The acting Vice Chancellor, professor Abdullahi Ashafa stated this to newsmen in Kaduna.

Professor Abdullahi Ashafa explained that the decision was informed by the meeting held with Deans and Heads of Department of the university which concluded that the school be open next week ,the thirteenth of July.

“The understanding of critical stakeholders that shoulder the affairs of teaching and research were sort and they have agreed that school be open”,he said.

He therefore called on students to prepare adequately for examination by the end of the month after a two weeks revision exercise by the school management.

The professor said the school calendar would be revised to cover the needed adjustments but asked the students to resume and continue with school activities.

“We have listened to some challenges of some heads of Department and we are allowing them time to cover certain aspects of the syllabus which is expedient considering the number of students involved especially in the faculty of science”,he said

The acting Vice Chancellor however assured that those that have not paid their school fees would be allow to write the examination although their results may not be displayed for them to see.

Professor Ashafa also explained that with the continues ASUU strike, best graduating students that were supposed to benefit from the foreign Master’s scholarship program of Governor Elrufai government may not be able to enjoy it unless they do something fast.

“Elrufai approved the tracking of some students with higher CGPA and an MOU was entered with two African universities to facilitate thier going abroad for their studies hence we felt the need to fast track the completion of thier examination ,so as they can do the results and issue them to scholarship board to process thier master’s admission which will close by September “,he concluded.

The acting Vice Chancellor who withdrew and apologized for the query given to some executive members of ASSU in the school, believed the union is responsible and reasonable to allow for smooth resumption exercise.

It could be recalled that the Kaduna State University was closed down since February this year due to the strike action embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of University on account of government failure to fulfill agreement reached between them.
