Zamfara State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ, has ended its 2022 triennial delegates conference with the election of new leaders to run the affairs of the Union for three years.

The conference took place in Gusau at the NUJ secretariat amidst tight security personnel.

Announcing the results, the Assistant National Secretary of the Union, Comrade Akoredu Abdulraouf, who was the Returning Officer, said only positions of Chairman and treasurer were contested for while other positions were unopposed.

Comrade Akoredu also explained that, some of the aspirants stepped down for their opponents which made the election easy, free and fair and commended the efforts of the Union members for the maturity they exhibited during the process.

According to him, Comrade Ibrahim Musa Maizare from Legacy News Paper who scored 68 votes emerged as Chairman to defeat his opponent Nasiru Shehu Aula of Zamfara Radio who scored 31 votes

Similarly, in treasurership position, Comrade Jamilu Sani Tsafe also scored 68 votes to defeat Comrade Yakubu mohammed Kaura, who polled 31 votes.

In his acceptance speech, Comrade Ibrahim Maizare assured to govern an open door policy and carry every one along while urging all members of the Union to join hands together to take the union to greater heights.
