ASUP Organises Activities To Promotes Love And Unity

Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics Kaduna Polytechnic Chapter has organised a week of activities to promote goodwill and forster fraternity among members.

The Chairman of the Chapter, Comrade Mohammed Mohammed stated this at the opening ceremony of ASUP week 2022 with the theme “Broadening the Frontiers of Our Bond” held at the polytechnic.

He said the ASUP week is a long activity characterized by series of activities such as sporting event that will helps in the development of mental, physical as well as emotional attributes of members.

He also explained that it would reduces stress level and enhance productivity in the work place.

Comrade Mohammed Mohammed also explained that members compete for Laurels in football, volleyball, basketball, table tennis, ludo to mention but few.

Declaring the week open, the acting Rector of Kaduna Polytechnic Dr. Suleiman Umar commended ASUP for
organizing a memorable event which is geared toward the unity of all members in the Institution.

He assured that the management would continue to carry everybody along irrespective of their differences.

The acting Rector appealed to academic staff and other participants to fully
partake in the week-long event and ensure positive dividends at the end of the programme.

In a paper presentation, Former Chairman of ASUP, Kaduna Polytechnic Chapter, Comrade Mustapha Yahaya Bida said the challenges facing them only through collective agitations can bail themselves out.

He further said that there is no any other short-cut to greatness apart from the bond that keeps the members of the union as one big family.

“in our bid to achieve the objectives of our coming together and by extension the progress of the institution, we must agree to disagree. But our criticisms of each other or the leadership of the union should remain within the confines of decorum and self-respect”. He said.

“The bond-unreserved unity, is the basis for our collective survival. In the past, we used to identify the next generation of leaders but we seem to have jettisoned that because of unnecessary bickering and the syndrome of “bring him down.” This is the bane of our current disposition whereby the Spirit De-Corp is missing and certain”.
