NASREA Hands Over About 100 Parrots To Kano Zoo

National environmental standards and regulations enforcement agency (NASREA), has handed over ninety seven parrots to kano zoological and wildlife management agency.

NASREA northwest zonal director,Mr. M.O Raheem, said the birds were seized by Nigeria customs service and handed over to the enforcement agency.

He maintained that, Kano zoological garden and wildlife management agency, would serve as custodian of the parrots pending the outcome of investigations.

Responding, the acting managing director of Kano zoological garden, Hajiya Amina Dankade commended the effort of Nigeria customs service and NESREA for their dedication in discharging their responsibilities.

She pointed out that the state government was committed in curtailing illegal hunting and deforestation.

Hajiya Amina Urged people in the state, to compliment governments efforts by reporting unpatriotic Nigerians engaged in smuggling wild animals to neighboring countries.

In another development, kano state government has appointed Malam lawan Jinjiri as special adviser on wildlife matters.

In his acceptance speech, Malam lawan Jinjiri pledged to perform his duties diligently.

Those who witness the event include managing director, Kano road traffic agency (KAROTA), Baffa Babba Dan Agundi, former Kano commissioner for special duties Mukhtar Ishak Yakasai, among others.
