Former Speaker Yakubu Dogara

A Bauchi based non governmental organization the Northern Youths Association of Nigeria (NYAN) has called on APC stakeholders to consider the candidature of the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, as a running mate to Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming presidential polls.

This was contained in a press statement by the Association President, Godiya Adams and issued to newsmen in Bauchi.

The group stated that Dogara remains the most viable candidate to work with Tinubu to deliver dividends of democracy to Nigerians, stressing that Dogara has good tracked record while he was speaker house of
Representative.

Meanwhile another group a
Concerned All Progressive Congress APC Stakeholders, has advised the party to be careful of how it manages its success in terms of selection of Tinubu’s running mate comes 2023 general election.
The group is on the opinion that it will not be proper for the party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to pick a Northern Muslim as his running mate.

Leader of the group Mathias Damina while having an interactive session with journalists in Bauchi says those clamouring for Muslim-Muslim ticket are enemies of not only Tinubu, but also APC.

He said going down the memory lane when in 2013 President Muhammadu Buhari emerged as the presidential flag bearer of the APC, the issue of running mate from the South was amicably resolved when Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu named Professor Yemi) Osinbajo as his running mate to balance the equation rather than having the Muslim-Muslim ticket.

While congratulating Tinubu on his emergence as APC presidential candidate, the group’s leader said Tinubu’s victory at the party’s primary election had proven those who envisaged doom for the party wrong.
