More than seventy houses have been destroyed by windstorms in Al-Hassan community area of Tambuwal local government area of Sokoto State.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after the assessment tour to the affected community, the Director General Sokoto State Emergency Management Agency SEMA Alh.Nasir Aliyu assured the victims that the agency would do everything humanly possible to cushion the effect of the disaster.

The DG noted that the assessment visit was a directive by Governor Aminu waziri Tambuwal stressing that the Governor was concerned about the damage caused by the windstorm.

Commenting on the tragedy the chairman of Tambuwal local government, Honourable Nasir Babata Tambuwal, commended the state government for the timely assessment.

He lamented that the victims were rendared homeless as a result of the windstorm.

Also speaking the district head of the community Alh. Tukur Sarkin Fadan Tambuwal said most of the affected houses were destroyed beyond repair.

He appealed to the agency to intensify efforts towards addressing the plight of the victims.
