Expert Charge Farmers to Imbibe Modern Techniques of Applying Fertilizer

Farmers have been advised to imbibe the culture of using modern techniques of Applying fertilizer in their farms aimed at having bumper harvest and address the challenges of huge loses in the farm production process.

A professor of soil science , Department of soil science Ahmadu Bello University Zaria professor Isiyaku Amaku gave the advice while sensitizing farmers from Kano and Jigawa on in-depth knowledge of applying fertilizer on the farmland organized by Al-yumma Nagari fertilizer in madobi local government Area of Kano state.

He said the objectives of the training was to acquaint farmers with the requisite knowledge of fertilizer Application on their farms geared toward increasing crop production in kano and jigawa states.

The soil science expert maintained that when fertilizer was being applied properly yield production would be increased and losses would be minimized during the production process.

In a remark the Chairman of Al-yumma Nagari Fertilizer Company Alhaji Ali Yusif Abdullahi who spoke through the executive Director of the company Dr Faruk Hamza said the training was aimed at enhancing the skills and knowledge of farmers in the 44 laocal government areas in kano and 27 local government areas of jigawa state on how to make adequate utilization of applying fertilizer on their farmlands.

He said their product has been testified as the leading fertilizer brand in recent times.

Earlier the Coordinator of the federal ministry of Agriculture in Kano Alhaji Abba Gana Yamani Commended the foresight and commitment of the company to organize the sensitization program.

He said this was the first time a private company come up with such training, stressing that the gesture would go a long way in enhancing the skills and expertise of farmers in fertilizer Applications.

Speaking to our correspondent the chairman of All farmers Association of Nigeria AFAN jigawa state Chapter Alhaji Idris Mai unguwa said the training would a vital role in boosting the knowledge and skills of farmers on fertilizer Application with the aim of boosting food production in the country.

The ceremony was attended by the Emir of karaye, stakeholders on agricultural sector and the public.
