Former Governor of Kano State, Rabiu Kwankwaso has emerged as the presidential flag-bearer of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

Mr Kwankwaso emerged as the party’s standard-bearer on Wednesday after delegates made their choice known by a voice vote at the party’s presidential convention in Abuja.

In his acceptance speech, the former governor said the 2023 elections will be a liberation of Nigerians from “long years of political darkness” to genuine governance.

If elected president, he will use his experience as a former minister of defence to tackle security challenges confronting the nation which, he said, has subjected many Nigerians to untold hardship.

The NNPP presidential candidate, who expressed worry over the state of Nigeria’s education system, promised to replicate his achievements in Kano State in Nigeria, if elected commander-in-chief.

Senator Kwankwaso, who was the sole aspirant of the NNPP, urged Nigerians to join hands with the NNPP and ensure that the party is voted into power at all levels for the rapid Socio-economic development of the country.
