Primary Health Centres Receive N30m Equipment In Kiyawa, Jigawa

As part of effort to reduce Pneumonia diseases in Jigawa state, a Non governmental organisation, Save the Children International SCI, funded by GlaxoSmithKline Gsk, donated hospital equipment to Kiyawa local government Primary Health Centres worth over 30 million naira.

Speaking while handing over the equipment, the Chief of the Party INSPIRING project, Dr Adamu Isah said, SCI selected Kiyawa Local Government Council to address the challenges of five child killer diseases pneumonia is included.

According to him, the project focused on two major parts that would improve health care delivery, supporting community through enlightment to know the diseases and prevention ways, support to healthcare personnels the trainings and how to use the equipments as well as how to handle the patients.

Dr Adamu Isah commended members of the communities, traditional leaders, media and Jigawa state government for their support and cooperation towards success of the project.

In a remark, after receiving the equipment, the Permanent Secretary of Jigawa State Ministry of Health Dr Salisu Mu’azu commended Save the Children Internationally and urged other partners to emulate the gesture.

Also speaking, the District Head of Kiyawa, Alhaji Adamu Aliyu Kiyawa called on the benefitting primary health care centres to use the equipment appropriately.

Radio Nigeria reports that the equipment donated includes 70 trolleys,105 Blood Pressure PB apparatus, 70 Paediatric weighing scales, 210 surgical scissors, 140 Galli put, 140 kidney dishes, a digital thermometer and 105 stainless trays.

Other equipment also includes 35 respiratory timers, 35 pulse oximeters, 70 status cope, 70 adult weighing scales, an oxygen concentrator, a giant oxygen cylinder, and an oxygen cylinder among other equipment.
