Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya has urged Army veterans to deploy their expertise and experiences in defeating security challenges across the country.

He made the call at this year’s second veterans affairs workshop held in Kaduna.

Represented by Major General Usman Shehu Mohammed, the Army Chief noted that the veterans have major and unique roles to play in the current security situation in view of their vast experiences and because they now live with the civilian populace.

He assured that the activities of the Army would continue to have direct bearing on the lives and well-being of its veterans.

Lt General Yahaya added that it is in recognition of this that entrepreneurship development training had been packaged as part of the workshop to enhance their productivity in retirement.

Earlier, General Officer Commanding One Division Kaduna, Major General Kabir Mukhtar explained that the workshop was aimed at leveraging veterans’ experiences in solving national issues especially insecurity.

In his keynote address, Major General Abubakar Gana (rtd), who was the special guest of honour at the event, said the workshop was a forum for serving and retired personnel to inexhaustibly share experiences and identify gaps in operations.

The theme of the five day workshop is “leveraging veterans’ experiences in furtherance of Nigerian Army operations”
