A Philanthropist, Maryam Abdullahi, Jagaban Matan Zazzau has donated food items to Zaria Custodial Centre in Kaduna State and paid N509,000 to secure the release of 10 inmates.

Maryam Abdullahi gave the released convicts N10,000 each to start businesses when they get back to their respective homes.


The Jagaban Matan Zazzau who donated bags of rice, 25 cartons of spaghetti and 25 bags of semovita said the gesture was to replicate what she had been to her immediate community in the FCT


She added that as the former chairperson (Amira) of Federation of Muslim Women Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN) in the FCT, they were engaged into humanitarian programs such as this, hence the donation in Zaria.


She, therefore, urges the beneficiaries to use the gesture to be good citizens and improve their lives.


In a remark, the Assistant Controller of Corrections and Officer in-charge of Medium Security Custodial Centre Zaria Alhaji Ibrahim Rambo, commended Jagaban for the donation.


He said the donations and the release were unprecedented and urged well to do individuals to emulate the gesture to enable the government to strengthen the reformation processes at the centre.
