Kano state fire service has confirmed the death of two men Haruba Abdullahi and Adamu Dan Jummai at Aku village, Gaya local government area.
Narrating the incident, public relations officer of the agency, Saminu Yusif Abdullahi said Gaya fire station received a distress call at 07:15 am.
He said, on arrival the rescue team discovered that two men Haruba and his brother Adamu were trapped in a pit toilet.
“Today Sunday 1st may 2022,Gaya fire station recieved a distress call from Ali Ahmed that two men were trapped in a pit toilet”
He explained that, earlier 30 year old Haruba fell into the suck away while trying to retrieve his phone from the pit, which prompted his 45 year old brother Adamu to join him.
The public relations officer maintained that all efforts by friends and relatives to evacuate the two men from the pit proved abortive.
He explained that, both men were rescued unconscious by rescue team attached to Gaya fire station and later confirmed dead by health officials.
Saminu Yusif pointed out that the deceased have been handed over to Aku village head Alhaji Adamu Isiyaku for necessary action.
He charged the general public to desist from using their cell phones in the toilet to avoid disasters.
