Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state has donated two hundred million naira to Internally Displaced Persons IDPs in Kaduna State to cushion their plight.

The Governor made the donation when he visited the state secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in Kaduna as part of his campaign tour to seek the presidential ticket come 2023.

Governor Wike lamented the persistent insecurity challenges facing the country, re-emphasising that it was the responsibility of the government to protect the lives and properties of its citizenry.

He vowed to tackle insecurity head-on when he assumed the leadership of the nation adding that the country need true Federalism to overcome the present situation in the system.

According to him, sentiment is not needed when deciding on good leaders, assuring that within the first six months in office, given the mandate to be president, he will restore the states and the country at large.

Nyson Wike also identified intelligence gathering as key to ending insecurity and that too much was spent on buying weapons and not enough on intelligence gathering.

The governor enjoined the party faithful to eschew any form of biases by uniting to support a single candidate, ahead of the 2023 election.

Responding, former Kaduna State Governor Alhaji Ahmad Makarfi, applauded Wike for the donation and for his courage in speaking truth to power; as a party faithful that always stands for the interest of the masses.

In a remark, the State PDP Chairman Mr Felix Hyet said the party was determined to field only candidates that were the people’s choice and would represent the voices of the common man.
