The Acting Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service (FFS), Dr Karebo Samson has called on Nigerians to take precautionary measures to minimise fire incidences during and after the Easter  celebration.

Dr Samson, who made the call in an Easter message to Nigerians, said that given huge number of cooking related activities associated with the celebrations, situations that could trigger fire outbreaks must be avoided.

He listed some measures, including keeping gas cylinders away from the kitchen, keeping match boxes away from the reach of children and not leaving cooking unattended.

Dr Samson directed all commands to be on red alert, in order to ensure quick response to emergencies during the Easter celebrations, and urged the citizens to call the emergency numbers in case of any eventuality.

He enjoined Christians to use the period of Easter to pray for Nigeria, particularly now that the country is facing turbulent times.
