Police Parades Suspected Gun-runner With Cache Of Ammunition In Borno

Borno state Police Command has paraded a twenty eight year old Clement Asuk for being in possession of cache of arms and ammunition. 

At a media briefing in Maiduguri, the Command’s Public Relations Officer ASP Sani Mohammed said the suspect was arrested by the intelligence and surveillance team at Kano motor park in Maiduguri.

According to ASP Mohammed, the suspect was trying to take the arms and ammunition to a location in Benue state when he was arrested. 

Exhibits recovered from him include 126 Anti Aircraft ammunition, 739 of 7.62mm of Life ammunition, 7.62mm by 39 life ammunition, 2 empty magazines of AK47, 4 RPG propellants, one hand grenade among other items.

In an interview with Radio Nigeria, the suspect Clement Asuk who claimed to be an indiigene of Akamkpa local government area of Cross River state confessed to have been caught with the ammunition. 

He alleged that a military personnel serving in Maiduguri gave him the ammunition to deliver to a gang engaged in communal clash between the boarder of Cross River and Ebonyi state. 

According to the suspect he was not paid for the gun running. 

The Command also paraded 46 year old Zakariya Bello for allegedly raping a 92 year old woman in Askira Uba Local Government area of the state.

The PPRO confirmed that all the suspects would be charged to court after investigation have been concluded.
