Ismaila Mustapha, a.k.a. Mompha, an Instagram celebrity, has been released from a correctional facility a few weeks after being arraigned before a Special Offences Court in Ikeja, Lagos.

Justice Mojisola Dada affirmed the court’s decision to reduce his bail application to N25 million with two sureties in the same amount, down from the N200 million bail limit previously granted by the same court when he was charged.

Mompha was arraigned on an 8-count charge of conspiracy and money laundering totaling over N6 billion.

Ismaila, who has since been detained in the Correctional facility of his choice for failing to complete his bail conditions, asked for a variation of his bail conditions on Monday, March 28, 2022, through his attorney, Gboyega Oyewole, SAN.

The judge modified the bail requirements by providing the defendant interim relief.

As a result, the prosecution, Mr Rotimi Oyedepo, requested a fresh date from the court and the prospective start of the trial.

When the case came up for a trial, the prosecutor sought a stand-down because his witness was being delayed by traffic.

The trial has been rescheduled for April 6, 2022.
