Newly Planted Explosives Uncovered- Niger State Governor

Security operatives in Niger state have uncovered newly planted explosives by Boko Haram insurgents in Shiroro local government council of the state.

The explosives were planted at Galadima Kogo where communities have been sacked by the bandits.

Niger state Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello made this known when he visited the Internally Displaced Persons Camp-IDP at Central Primary School Gwada in Shiroro local government council.

Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello said security operatives were working tirelessly to detonate the newly discovered explosives and assured that the IDP’s would soon return to their homes.

According to him, additional security operatives have been deployed to the state in addition to new strategies deployed to defeat banditry in Niger state.

Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello explained that about four thousand IDP’s are in Gwada camp comprising those displaced by bandits and water backwash due to ongoing construction of Zungeru Hydroelectric dam in Niger state.

The Governor also directed that new babies at the camp be taken to hospital while mobile toilets be erected to ammeliorate their hardship.

Speaking on behalf of the IDP’s, Hakimin Galadima Kogo, Alhaji Aliyu Umar appealed to Niger state government to speed up the process of returning them back to their homes as raining season is approaching.
