NEMA Inaugurates Management Committees In Jigawa

National Emergency Management Agency NEMA has inaugurated local government emergency management committee in all the 27 local government areas of Jigawa  state.

The Director General of the agency, Alhaji Mustapha Habib Ahmed, said the local level committees were inaugurated with the aim of bringing lasting solution to the issues of disasters occurrence in the state.

Alhaji Mustapha Habib who was represented by the Coordinator of the agency in charge of Kano and Jigawa states, Dr Nura Abdullahi explained that NEMA will continue to collaborate with the  state government to enhance service delivery to management of disaster at the local levels.

Responding, the State Deputy Governor Mallam Umar Namadi said the occasion marked another milestone in the history of disaster management in Nigeria.

According to him, the establishment of the local level committees was an action that need to be supported by every individual.

Mallam Umar Namadi charged NEMA and SEMA to collaborate with local level committees to control disaster management in the state and the nation at large.

Radio Nigeria reports that, the state Commissioner for lands and regional planning also led the NEMA team to the Emir of Dutse’s Palace, Dr Nuhu Muhammadu Sanusi.
