Kwara State : 90% Of Infrastructural Projects Locally Contracted – Commissioner

Kwara state government says 90 per cent of its ongoing over 22 infrastructural projects are being handled by local contractors in the state.

The state Commisssioner for works ,Rotimi Iliasu made the disclosure while speaking with journalists during an inspection visits to some of the ongoing projects,in Ilorin.

According to him the projects such as roads and flyover are located in the three senatorial districts of the state.

The commissioner said local contractors who are indigenes of the state are being patronised to enable them have the best .

Iliasu said that most of the infrastructural projects are aimed at attracting investors, adding that investors always want to see what governments has on ground before they come in.

In his remark , at the Babatunde Idiagbon flyover site in Tanke, Ilorin, the chief resident engineer of the project, Joseph Bamgboye, said that the flyover project would solve persistent traffic gridlock in the area, “with about 80 per cent of the traffic volume from the University of Ilorin”.
