Mr Benjamin Kalu

House of Representatives has attributed the rejection of women Bills by the lawmakers during the constitutional amendment process to late lobbying by the stakeholders.

Spokesman of the House Mr Benjamin Kalu, made the statement while interacting with members of the press corps at the National Assembly Abuja.

Mr Benjamin Kalu, observed that in view of the socio-cultural and religious sensitiveness of the issues, effective lobbying, sensitisation and consultations by the stakeholders across the country would have been intensified earlier to attract maximum support.

This according to the spokesman says that the lobbying is done not in vain, urging civil society organisations not to give up the struggle assuring that there is always time to review the constitution again as no law is cast on stone.

He appreciated the Wives of the president, Vice president as well as the Minister of women affairs for their active participation in the struggle.
