Alhaji Umar El-Yakub

Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters, House of Representatives Alhaji Umar El-Yakub has expressed optimism that the 2023 general elections will be credible and acceptable to all Nigerians.

Alhaji Umar El-Yakub who expressed the confidence, while breafing the House of Representative’s press corps in Abuja, said signing of the Electoral Act amendment Bill into law had prepared ground for smooth conduct of the forthcoming general elections.

The Senior Special Assistant explained that the recently signed Electoral Act substantially addresses the issues that have plagued the country’s electoral process in terms of transparency, credibility, and strengthened the capacity of the electoral umpire to perform its mandate creditably.

He maintained that the assent to the Electoral Amendment Bill was a huge achievement, as well as a legacy left by President Buhari’s administration that would not be forgotten easily.

The presidential aid added that the existing cordial working relationship between the two arms of government had led to good governance and the delivery of effective services to Nigerians.

Alhaji El-Yakub, who lauded the 9th Assembly revealed that the Buhari government had found a dependable partner as the House of Representatives was always committed in ensuring critical legislations.
