About five hundred and fifty thousand Nigerians are expected to be vaccinated daily for effective and timely coverage of covid 19 vaccination in the country.

Executive director National Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Faisal Shuaibu stated this on a courtesy call to the sokoto state governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal in the state.

Dr. Faisal Shuaibu said they are in Sokoto in order to work together with the state team in a bid to finding modalities that would ensure improved uptaking of the Corona virus vaccine in the state.

He regretted that despite the state government huge fundings in the state Primary Health Care and immense support on the activities of National health care in the state, the state is among the low performing state in terms of covid 19 uptake in the country.

He explained that fifteen thousand people are expected to be vaccinated daily in sokoto in order to meet the target population.

According to him, the National team of covid 19 Mass Vaccination Campaign together with the state actors and development partners would provide a framework that would ends the socio-cultural issues that continue to remain a barrier to the effective uptaking of the vaccine in the state.

In a response, Gov Aminu Waziri Tambuwal appealed to the National health care Agency for more support to the state in order to address low immunization rate and the challenges of low covid 19 vaccination in the state.

Also on a courtesy call to the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Saad Abubakar, the executive director of the agency maintained that the agency would also work with the traditional leaders in order to take the campaign to the grassroots in the state.

In a remark, the Sultan advised the agency to take all necessary action to enlighten people on the importance of the vaccine and not to enforce the vaccination and pledged the Sultanate support to achieving the desired objective not only in sokoto but the country in general.
