Governor Zulum Presenting relief items to returnees

Borno State government has resettled another set of six hundred and thirty two displaced persons to Malari village in Konduga local government. 

They include two hundred and fifty three male and three hundred and seventy nine female returnees. 

Governor Babagana Zulum at a ceremony said the community is resettled after more than seven years of displacement. 

He explained that the resettlement followed the reconstruction of eight hundred and three existing houses which were destroyed by Boko Haram insurgents. 

The Governor announced the assistance of twenty thousand naira each to male returnees as well as ten thousand naira and a wrapper to the female returnees.

Professor Babagana Zulum also directed the allocation of one hundred thousand naira to each of five hundred community members whose houses were not part of the 803 houses already rebuilt.

He then announced the distribution of food and non food items donated by the North-East Development Commission, NEDC, meant to support all returnees. 

Commissioner for Reconstruction, Rehablitation and Resettlement Alhaji Mustapha Gubio assured his Ministry’s commitment in ensuring the resettlement of displaced  persons in line with the yearnings of the people.

All Progressives Congress APC State Chairman, Ali Bukar Dalori, member representing Konduga at the State Assembly, as well as the Chairman, Borno State Local Government Service Commission, Senator Kaka Malam Yale, all described the resettlement of people to Malari as a milestone achievement. 

They urged residents to cooperate with security agents and continue to pray for the sustenance of peace in the State.
