FG Provides 500 Tubewell, Farming Implements In Katsina

Federal Government has constructed 500 tubewells and distributed 500 pumping machines to dry season farmers in Rogogo Community of Zango Local Government Area of Katsina State.

While distributing the machines to the farmers in Zango, the Executive Director Planning and Design at the Sokoto Rima River Basin Development Authority, Alhaji Bashir Zango, said the gesture was part of the federal government’s poverty alleviation and wealth creation drive.

He explained that at present, no fewer than 54 projects worth over N60 million initiated by the federal government through the agency were ongoing in different parts of the state.

He listed the projects to include the provision of solar powered boreholes, tube wells, water pumps, construction and rehabilitation of earth dams and rehabilitation of primary and secondary schools.

Alhaji Bashir Zango urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the farming implements to enhance their farming practices and boost their productivity through irrigation farming.

In his remarks, the Speaker Katsina State House of Assembly, Alhaji Tasi’u Maigari commended the federal government for this and other efforts aimed at creating jobs in the agric sector.

He described the scheme as a boost to the federal government’s economic diversification drive which has gone a long way in reducing dependence on crude oil in the last six years.

In his remarks, the Village Head of Rogogo, Alhaji Idi Umar said the gesture will go a long way in enhancing food security through mechanized agriculture.
