The Department of Soil Science Ahmadu Bello University Zaria has reaffirmed its determination in training farmers and extension workers on climate smart agricultural technologies, aimed at Enhancing Food Production in the Country.

The Head of Department Professor Nafi’u Abdu stated this during a one-day training organized for farmers and extension workers from Kano, Kaduna, Jigawa, and Katsina States held in Kano.

He said the objective of the workshop was aimed at training farmers and extension workers in modern techniques of using agricultural technology for enhanced food production in the country.

Professor Nafi’u Abdu noted that climate change was a big threat to agricultural production in the country and other parts of the world, hence adequate training needed to be provided to farmers and extension workers to achieve the set objectives.

The head of department maintained that adopting climate-smart agriculture will help farmers to make maximum use of the land resources and have an increase in the production of crops, and livestock without any negative impact on the environment.

Professor Nafiu Abdu urged the participants to step down the training to their colleagues who were not privileged to attend the training.

Mohammad Garba from kano and Isyaku Aliyu from Kaduna state were among the participants of the workshop and said the training had enhanced their capacity on modern techniques on climate-smart agriculture.

The training was attended by participants from Kano, Kaduna, jigawa, and Katsina states.
