Gov Zulum Inaugurates Construction of N11.5bn Roads

Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum, has inaugurated the construction of eight major township roads and two bridges to gulp over 11.5 billion naira. 

Performing the inauguration at the popular post office round about on Ahmadu Bello Way in Maiduguri, Governor Zulum said the projects are part of his administration’s urbanization drive through infrastructural development as part of Borno’s recovery and development plan. 

He enjoined the contractors to ensure good job as government will not compromise standard.

The Governor also called on the management and staff of the Ministry of works and site engineers to closely monitor the projects. 

“The massive ongoing construction of roads, drainage networks with fly over bridges witnessed under the present administration were inline with my electioneering campaign promises i made to the people of the state” Zulum said. 

Permanent Secretary Ministry of Works, Alhaji Ali Goni assured the governor that supervisors will work closely with contractors to ensure standard and timely delivery.

The 13.3 kilometer road and two bridges will be executed by a Chinese construction company and an indigenous firm expected to be completed within one year.

The 10 construction works comprise dualising of Ahmadu Bello Way to Bama road junction, Shehu Sanda Kura road, Monday Market roundabout, Elkanemi roundabout and Mogoram to Lafiya road with a bridge to be cited at Ahmadu Bello way linking Bama road, and another bridge in the work that will connect Elkanemi roundabout to Lagos street junction.

Other construction works will cover Baga road market- Jajeri –Umarari- Bulabulin and another one to link Texaco– Abdu One roads.
