Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has reiterated the state government’s dedication to the improvement of worker’s welfare.
Ganduje stated this during an award presentation to deserving staff, organized by Kano State Emergency Management Agency, (SEMA), held in Kano.
According to the Governor, Kano state government is one of the few states that ensure prompt payment of worker’s salaries despite economic melt down and covid-19 pandemic.
Ganduje who was represented by the Secretary to the state government, Alhaji Usman Alhaji urged all civil servants in the state to rededicate themselves to their duties for the development of the state.
“As government alone we all depend on civil servants to make progress and achieve what the government plans”.
Earlier in his remarks, the Executive Secretary of SEMA, Saleh Aliyu Jili explained that Kano state was the second state to establish disaster management committees in all the 44 local government areas.
He said awardees were selected based on merit including a 62 year old cook, Zainab Sarki Zudawa due to her act of bravery in saving a mentally retarded patient from danger.
Saleh Jili said the Agency had commenced sensitization and media engagements on disaster managenent, according to the United Nations and National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA policies, which has yielded positive results.
The Executive Secretary noted that there are over 121 mentally retarded patients across 13 rehabilitation centers in the state.
He urged philanthropists and wealthy individuals to compliment government’s efforts by assisting the less previleged and providing emergency relief items to the Agency to move the state forward.
9 people; 6 men and 3 women recieved awards based on merit, one of them is a 62 year old cook who saved the life of a mentally retarded patient in one of our rehabilitation centers.
The occasion attracted top government functionaries, non governmental organizations, traditional leaders, journalists and the general public.
