Immunization: Karaye LG Targets Over 50,000 Children, Pregnant Women

The primary health coordinator of Karaye local government area Malam Lawan Yahaya says over 400 adhoc staff were trained to immunize over 50,000 under 5 children and pregnant women for January 2022 OBR1 and MNCHW integrated health week.

Malam Lawan made the disclosure to newsmen who were at Karaye local government area to monitor OBR1 and MNCHW week long event.

According to the primary health coordinator, the January 2022 immunization plus days and MNCHW campaign will provide cost effective maternal and child health interventions such as vitamin A supplementation, deworming, free ANC drugs and long lasting treated mosquito nets to young children and pregnant women.

He explained that, the team had earlier visited the ward Heads of magajin Gari, Magaji Haji, kwanyawa, kurugu, Daura and other 5 wards to sensitize parents and relevant stakeholders on the need to get their children fully immunized.

The primary health coordinator attributed the success achieved to the dedication of the state government in providing the vaccine and other relevant health materials.

He maintained that sweets, biscuits and sachet milk were given out to the children after recieving the drop to entice and motivate them.

Malam Lawan Yahaya commended traditional and religious leaders,parents and guardians for their commitment in the fight aginst polio and other health related matters.

Radio Nigeria reports that, some of the nursing mothers interviewed, assured their commitment to giving maximum cooperation to the immunization exercise.
