Catholic Diocese of Sokoto has refuted the alleged invitation extended to Bishop Mathew Kukah by the Department of State Service, DSS in the state.

The Director of Social Communication of the Diocese, Reverend Father Christopher Omotosho who stated this to newsmen in Sokoto described the news as untrue.

“The news that the Bishop was summoned for questioning by the DSS regarding his Christmas message cannot be true. The Bishop is yet to receive either call or mail from the DSS,” he noted.

The Diocese, therefore, advised the general public to discard the rumour as the Bishop is still in his residence with his family.

Social media was awash at the weekend with stories of the summon of the Bishop by the DSS, a situation that has confused relationship between Nigerians.

In response, the Youth Wing of the Christians Association of Nigeria had also threatened to mobilise Christian youth across the nation to accompany the Bishop to the DSS Headquarters in Abuja.
