Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle of Zamfara state has confirmed the killing of fifty six people in Anka and Bukuyum local government areas of the state by unknown gunmen suspected to be bandits.

Matawalle stated this to newsmen in Anka shortly after visiting the two affected local government areas.

He said his administration would strategies to end banditry activities across the state and called for collective efforts and prayers for sustainable peace to prevail in the state and the country at Large.

Governor Matawalle also condoled the families of those that lost their loved ones and sympathised with the victims of the tragedy and assured them of government’s support to alleviate their suffering.

According to him, state government is collaborating with the federal government to deploy more security personnel to protect lives and properties of the citizens.

In their separate speeches, the emir of Bukuyum Alhaji Muhammad Usman said thirty six people were killed In in his emirate while the emir of Anka confirmed the killing of twenty two, adding that 21 people declared missing where discovered in Talatan Mafara.

He called on people of the state to compliment government efforts in its quest to end security challenges bedeviling the state and the country in general.
