FG Trains 3000 Unemployed Youths on Vocational Skills in Northwest

The Federal Government has reiterated its Commitment to Providing Skills Acquisition training to the Youths, aimed at making them self-reliant and employers of Labour.

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs Disaster Management and Social Development Hajiya Sadiya Umar Faruk stated this during the closing of the training program organized by the ministry for selected youths from the northwest geopolitical zone, held at Kano state sports institute Karfi.

The Minister who was represented by a Deputy Director of the Ministry Alhaji Mohammad Sambo said the N-knowledge program was aimed at empowering youth to be self-reliant.

She said the youths were trained in scriptwriting, software system, hardware, and Animation.

Hajiya Sadiya Umar Faruk maintained that the trainees would be given start-up kits such as laptops, workstations, and computer accessories

“This training component is targeted at developing competencies of the youths in software development and Hardware training which will be groundwork to make Nigeria compete in the outsourcing market for software development.”

“It will develop their skills and capacities along the skills set in the value chain of mobile apps, website development and start the talent development effort for the growth of information technology industry in Nigeria”

“At the end of the program, qualified trainees will be awarded certificates and attestations”

“Trainees will be introduced to different schedules that will make them more informed and ready for the global competitions in the global market,’’

According to her, the ministry has 24 training venues across the six geo-political zones, targeting 20,000 beneficiaries.

Zayyanu Ahmad from Kebbi state and Aminatu isma’il from Zamfara state were among the Participants of the training, they Applauded federal government efforts for training them to be self-reliant.
