House of Representatives is to partner stakeholders across boards in the implemention of wholesale reform of customs and excise operations in the Country.

The Speaker, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila stated this at a one day public hearing on Customs Reform bill in Abuja.

Mr Femi Gbajabiamila, explained that the session was organized to seek the views of stakeholders on measures needed to reposition the Nigeria Customs Service for a better performance.

The Speaker, stressed that the Bill when passed will enable the Customs Service operates optimally in executing its statutory functions without corruption and malfeasance of any sort.

Earlier, the chairman house committee on Customs, Leke Abejide, noted that the Act was design to enhance the financial stability of the service in order to recruit the required number of Custom Officers to man the nation’s porous border stations.
