The Federal Government export policy is being supported by World Bank project known as Agro-Processing Productivity Enhancement And Livelihood Support Project, APPEALS towards enhancing production and export of Ginger root crops from Nigeria to other countries of the world.

Monitoring and Evaluation Officer of the Project, Mr Abdulwasiu Fawole stated this in Kaduna at the pre-seventh implementation support mission aimed at reviewing the programme implementation in the six participating states of Enugu, Cross River, Kaduna, Lagos, Kano and Kogi.

He explained that the project, had supported about 2000 farmers belonging to various cooperative groups in machinery and improved technology to enhance productivity of farm produce.

According to him, on average, each farmer had been able to improve their productivity yield by 38% in Kaduna State.

He said under the Women and Youth Empowerment Program of the APPEALS project, 1,715 beneficiaries including 100 people with disabilities and special needs were selected, trained and have started receiving empowerment grants.

Mr Fawole maintained that the APPEALS project had also assisted farmers with manual harvest to prevent crop wastage which include, Maize, Rice, Ginger and Diary products.
