Federal University Dutse FUD says three facilities are to benefit from the 108 Million naira first phase of the TETfund Zonal intervention for the provision of solar power in the University.

The Vice Chancellor Professor Abdulkareem Sabo Mohammed disclosed this in Dutse, the jigawa state capital.

According to him, the faculties to benefit from the intervention include arts and social sciences, agriculture and Science.

He said once this alternative power source was provided, it would reduce the dependence on the national grid and enhance the quality of teaching, learning and research in the university.

Professor Abdulkareem Sabo Mohammed said the first phase of the solar power project would also be extended to the university health centre and the library because these facilities require 24 hours electricity supply.

He pointed out that phase two of the project would also take care of other facilities in the university.

Radio Nigeria reports that, the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing has recently commenced the installation of 96  solar street light in the university.
