Nigerian Airforce says it is set to align with initiative for global Airforces to collaborate on climate change.

Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Oladayo Amao stated this when he paid a courtesy call on the Royal Airforce (RAF), Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Sir Mike Wigston at his office in London.

In a statement by the NAF Spokesperson Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the Air Chief said the need for the force to devise means of conserving energy and take proactive steps towards safeguarding military hardware and equipment against the effect of climate change is imperative.

Air Marshal Oladayo Amao assured that NAF would soon commence the implementation of projects to power NAF bases nationwide, while also undertaking research and development on synthetic fuels and electric support development.

The Air Chief sought for partnership with the RAF in the areas of curriculum development as well as establishment of NAF air and space power warfare center and the center for air power studies among others.

Responding, Air Chief Marshal Wigston commended Air Marshal Amao for the renewed synergy and vigour exhibited by the NAF in its counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency efforts and obliged to the request for partnership.

The statement adds that Air Marshal Amao is in London as a keynote speaker and attendee at the Twenty-first international conference to share ideas and experiences towards achieving higher standards of excellence in flying.
