Ganduje Calls For Law Prohibiting Street Begging

Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state has called on federal legislatives to expedite action in enacting a law that would prohibit street begging in all parts of the Country.

The Governor stated this during the second National Conference organized by the Faculty of Education Bayero University Kano, held in Kano.

He explained that enacting the law would help immensely in compelling parents and Guardians to send their Children to School, geared towards accessing quality religious and Western Education, with the aim of having a decent Society.

“Our Administration is doing everything possible to address all the challenges facing the Educational sector in the State, the governor maintained.”

He added that security challenges and terrorist activities had helped in creating more educational problems in the north-east and some states in the north-west of the country.

In a remark, the Chairman of the Conference, Professor Abdulrasheed Garba, said the conference was organized to explore the challenges facing education and ways to address them.

He commended the Kano state government for allocating over 26 percent of it’s 2022 budget in education and urged other state Governments to emulate.

The Conference was attended by senior lecturers of the department and other stakeholders.
