Save the Children International and GlaxoSmithKline partnership through the INSPIRING project has donated medical equipment, instruments and consumables worth over 50 million naira to 35 health facilities in Jigawa state.

The Chief of Party Inspiring project, Dr Adamu Isah

The Chief of Party Inspiring project, Dr Adamu Isah stated this during the handing over of the equipments at Save the Children office in Dutse.

According to him, the donation is made in response to the health facilities assessment conducted by Save the Children International in Kiyawa local government area of the state.

He said the gesture was aimed at addressing the gaps found during a recent Infection Prevention and Control post-training supervision conducted in SCI supported health care facilities.

Dr Adamu Isah further explained that the donation would further enhance the efforts of the government toward improving the quality of healthcare service delivery in the state.

He added that, healthcare facilities should be ready to provide quality services to their patients, especially children affected by pneumonia and other childhood diseases.

The Chief of the party said this cannot be achieved if health providers lack access to the tools and resources needed to save lives.

Permanent Secretary, Jigawa state ministry of health, Dr Salisu Mu’azu

While receiving the items on behalf of the state government, the Permanent Secretary and Acting Commissioner of Health in Jigawa State, Dr Salisu Mu’azu said pneumonia causes a lot of mortalities among children, but unfortunately, programs in the past tend to forget about pneumonia.

He said the program had been supporting these facilities in the last two years and improved the quality of life of people in Jigawa state.
