Radio Nigeria Kaduna Tops Priority In 2022 FRCN Budget

Director General of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria FRCN Alh Mansur Liman, has presented a budget of over ten billion naira for twenty twenty two fiscal year before the house of Representatives committee on information for consideration.

Presenting the budget estimate, Mansur Liman said of the total estimate, 984 million naira had been earmarked for Capital expenditures while 1bn was proposed as internally generated revenue by the agency in 2022.

The Director General who lamented inadequate funding and dilapidated equipment in some stations under his watch said rehabilitations were carried out on FM Stations in Kaduna, Kebbi, Bauchi, Makurdi, Lagos and a new FM station was established in Sokoto all in 2021.

He explained that the priority would be on the Kaduna zonal station in 2022, where a total overhauling would be carried out to ensure that the station restores its listeners from the 19 northern states for effective service delivery and revenue generation.

Responding, the Charman House Commitee on lnformation, National Orientation, Ethics and Values Mr Olusegun Odebunmi, was impressed with the FRCN’s performance despite the huge challenges experienced in the year under review.

Mr Olusegun Odebunmi, however, emphasized that for FRCN to retain its position in the broadcast industry and compete with other foreign media it has to be fully empowered financially.

Most of the committee members that contributed during the budget defence lauded the effort of FRCN in the area of revenue generation in 2021 and urged the station to improve in the area of budget performance in the 2022 fiscal year.
