Kano state House of Assembly has ordered the immediate suspension and erecting of shops and structures within the premises of Abdullahi Bayero Juma’at mosque Fagge.

This was sequel to a motion of urgent public importance by a Member Representing Dala Local Government, Alhaji Lawan Hussaini Chediyar ‘yan Gurasa, supported by the lawmakers.

According to the House, erecting shops and allocation of plots of land within the vicinity has started generating disunity which led to resignation of a Kano based reknown Islamic scholar, Sheikh Tijjani Bala Kalarawi, as a member committee of trustees of the mosque.

The lawmakers argued that they agree with the scholar who described the indiscriminate building and land allocation within the mosque as a sheer disrespect for the sanctity of Allah’s domain.

The House unanimously adopted the motion and constituted a nine man committee to investigate the matter and report back to the in two weeks.

Similarly, the House has recieved a letter from the office of the State Auditor General in respect of the state audited Accounts.

Reading the letter on the floor of the House, the Speaker, Alhaji Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari, said the state government’s accounts were audited according to section 30 (i) of the Kano state audit law and other constitutional laws.

The House Standing Committee on Public Accounts was asked to scrutinize the document and submit it’s findings to the House within three months.

Another issue of public importance treated during House plenary was a report on community reorientation council law 2021, sponsored by the House Deputy Majority Leader, Alhaji Abdullahi Ilyasu Yaryasa.
