NGF In Close Door Meeting, Deliberate On VAT, Others

Northern Governors Forum says it will look at some national issues that have emerged over recent months in the country to come up with the position of the region.

The Chairman of the Forum, Governor Simong Bako Lalong stated this, in his opening remark at its meeting with northern traditional rulers at government house Kaduna.

Mr Lalong said the forum would adopt the best possible approach to ensuring the interest of the region was protected and promoted.

He said participants would look into the various reports of committees constituted by the forum during its previous meeting for implementation.

While awaiting reports of some committees , other presentations made by individuals and corporate organisations for the development of the region would be carefully examined.

According to him, issue of Value added tax collection and the surrounding controversy will be deliberated.

Mr Simong Lalong asked the contribution of all the participants that would help to arrive at meaningful conclusion to impact positively on the fortune of the people in the region.

In a remark, the Sultan of Sokoto Alhaji Saad Abubakar revealed that, the major challanges of this country, leaders would meet and discuss on very serious issues and have good resolution but to implement become a major Problem.

“It is important for us once we decide on issues, we must set the time limit on how and when to implement those resolutions”

Alhaji Saad Abubakar said traditional rulers are always ready to partners and contribute to the development of the region and the country in general, and thanked the governors for their eforts in addressing security challenges.

According to him, apart from security, povert and low of education, drug abuse among youths are remain a problem confronting the region that requirse collective effort to tackle.

The meeting being held closed door has in attendance Governors of Jigawa, Katsina, Plateau, Nasarawa, Sokoto, Kaduna and Borno States, while Deputy Governors of Kogi, Benue, Taraba, Adamawa are also in attendance among others.

The Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Umar Garbai Elkenemi, the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, the Emir of Bauchi, the Emir Zazzau Alhaji Ahmad Nuhu Bamali, the Emir of Katsina, the Emir of Lafiya in Nasarawa State, the Emir of Gombe, Hadeja, Anka, among other traditional rulers are attending the meeting
