Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Awwal Zabairu Gambo has Reaffirmed Commitment in Enhancing security of the Nigerian maritime Enviroment, Aimed at addressing Security Challenges in the Country.

He stated this during the opening ceremony of the Chief of Naval staff Annual Conference taking place in Kano.

Vice Admiral Awwal zabairu Gambo said the Conference was organized to fine tuned Modalities with other security Agencies towards finding solutions to the maritime Security Challenges in the country.

He said Nigerian Navy was saddled with the Responsibility of securing the nation’s maritime Enviroment, which posses strategic importance to the nation’s economy,hence all necessary Mechanism must be put in place in addressing the Current challenges .

“Most of the criminal activities in our maritime Enviroment are directed as the Economy life line of our Dear nation, the Scourge of illegalities such as sea robbery , piracy,crude oil theft ,human and illicit trafficking of weapons and Drugs Among Others constitute serious challenges to the Development of the country and the region at large”

Vice Admiral Awwal zabairu Gambo maintaied that Marine threat had become major concern to the Nigerian Navy,stressing that modern initiative had been implored geared towards ensuring greater Productivity of security Efforts .

He said the conference would facilitate immediate actions towards identifying viable concepts and constructive collaborative Action plan that would support the initiative of the Nigerian Navy.

Declaring the conference opened , Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State described the Naval Conference as Very timely.

He said the significance of the conference can best be appreciated through recognizing the relationship that exist between having a secure maritime Domain and the Socio Economic Development of the Nation.

“While Aknowledeging and appreciating the Achievements of the various collective responses and interventions ,I must Commend the Nigerian Navy for creating this platform for intellectual discussed geared towards enhancing the collective maritime Security Architecture of the country”

The Conference themed Enhancing Nigerian Maritime Security for improved prosperity was Attended by Service Chiefs , Representive of the IG, senior officer of Nigerian Navy, retired senior military personnel, senior Government Officials and other stakeholders.
