Gunmen have attacked Zamfara State College of Agriculture and Animal Science (CAAS) Bakura, Killing 3 persons, abducting Students and Staff of the institution.

Radio Nigeria in Gusau gathered that, those killed include a Police Inspector and 2 Watchmen.

Sources within the College said, the gunmen who stormed the CAAS Bakura at about 10:47Pm, Sunday, Shooting rampantly and operated for almost 3 hours unchallenged and thereafter abducted 15 Students, 6 Staff of the Institution.

Although, the State Police Command is yet to confirm the attack, as multiple calls to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) SP Muhammad Shehu couldn’t go through as at the time of compiling the report, but our reporter has reliably confirmed that, Armed Security Personnel including Commissioner of Police Zamfara State Command CP Ayuba Elkana and other Top Security Officers arrived the College to have first hand information, restore normalcy and take next line of action.

This is not the first time that the school is being attacked by bandits.

In July, the Provost of the school, Mr. Habibu Mainasara was kidnapped from his official residence in the institution.

The bandits demanded a ransom of N5 million from his family with negotiations commencing for his release.

But his brother, Nasiru Mainasara, said prominent members of the community told the family to stop the negotiation and assured them that he will be rescued safely.

He was eventually released after three days in captivity.
