Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi

Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi is proposing a serious punishment for anyone caught vandalizing government infrastructure.

He made the proposal while briefing state House correspondents in Abuja.

Amaechi is making this recommendation as part of measures to curb the daily acts of sabotage and obstruction on rail projects being carried out by government.

He says such acts are capable causing major disasters for rail travellers.

According to him, over ten thousand rail clips have been stolen and government is spending a lot of money on daily basis to replace them.

The minister said works on the rail projects are steadily progressing but there are slight delays as a result of lack of funds and engagement of local supervising engineer.

He said Government is working hard to connect the whole part of the country with rail line network, as the flag off of rail line connecting Kaduna to Kano will commence in two weeks Time.
