Nigerian Army has described maneuver tactics as a pragmatic approach in addressing the fitness requirements of its personnel.
Chief of Army Staff, Major General Faruk Yahaya stated this while declaring the open and the combined directorate of Army physical training officers conference and maiden seminar held at the Army School of physical training, Zaria.
Represented by Major General Abubakar Sadiq Ndalolo, the Army Chief described the conference as an apt and a proof that the directorate of Army physical training is ready to reposition itself to meet contemporary challenges of the Army as well as future expectations.
He maintained that the innovative steps taken by the directorate is in line with his vision which is “To build a professional Army ready to accomplish assigned mission within a joint environment in defence of Nigeria”
Major General Faruk Yahaya expressed delight that the Directorate has significant number of Personnel in joint operations like operation Hadin Kai and other internal security operations across the country.
The Army Chief urged all tactical level commanders and other participants to make the most use of the interactive sessions in view of efforts at repositioning the Army.
Major General Faruk Yahaya assured that the Army is not only conceptually sound, but also physically sound to pursue criminal elements wherever they are.
Earlier in his address, Director Army physical training, Brigadier General Adeolu Fawole explained that despite the covid nineteen pandemic, giant strides has been recorded in the area of sports, and assured that the directorate would continue to mobilize talented sportsmen in the Army for future exploits and improved fitness training for operational readiness.
He appealed for the provision of water, road, electricity and perimeter fence at the new headquarters complex for effective service delivery.
The theme of the conference is “Enhancing fitness training for operational readiness in the Nigerian Army”
The event had in attendance, serving and retired senior personnel in the directorate.
