Parents and guardians have been urged to work hard in ensuring that their wards recieve western and Islamic education as well as good moral values to protect them against drug abuse and all forms of vices.

The Commander General of the Kano State Hisbah Board, Sheikh Harun Muhammad Sani Ibn Sina made the appeal at a qur’anic graduation in kumbotso local government Kano state.

According to him, drug abuse and other societal vices had been on the rise among youths in the state, as such there was the urgent need for parents, guardians and relevant stakeholders to work together in ending the menace.

Sheikh Harun Ibn Sina explained that, as an agency saddled with the responsibilities of serving as mediators, the high number of cases involving minors and teenagers is alarming.

He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment in uplifting the standard of education to compete with others globally.

Earlier in his remarks, a reknown Islamic scholar, Sheikh Abdallah Gadon Kaya called on philanthropists and wealthy individuals to come to the aid of Islamiyya schools.

He pointed out that, most Islamiyya schools lack the necessary funds to pay staff salaries and other logistics due to the inability of most parents to pay school fees.

Sheikh Abdallah Gadon Kaya said most parents spent large amounts of money for school fees without due consideration for Islamiyya schools.

Also speaking, the headmaster of the Islamiyya, Malam Nura Abdullahi Abubakar reiterated the school’s commitment in providing quality education.

He maintained that, the school was founded 18 years ago after the donation of land by one of the residents.

Malam Nura decried over lack of adequate space to accommodate the large number of students.

He appealed to government, philanthropists and relevant stakeholders to come to their aid.

The occasion attracted Islamic scholars, traditional leaders, government officials, students and the general public.
