Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje during an interactive session with Journalists in Kano

KHADIJAH ALIYU/Kano

Kano state Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment in ensuring harmony and peaceful coexistence among different ethnic groups in the state.

Governor Ganduje stated this during an interactive session with journalists to mark the Nation’s democracy day held at Government house Kano.

He attributed the success to mutual understanding and cooperation between different groups in the State which had given the government the courage and determination in discharging it’s responsibilities.

The governor explained that the state government had put modalities in place to ensure adequate security, infrastructural development, provision of quality healthcare among others.

“the position taken by the Ohanaeze Ndigbo has debunked all rumours, speculations and fears of the imminent break of Nigeria as championed by some unpatriotic elements ”

Commenting on light rail project, the Governor maintained that preparations were in top gear as the project had been approved by the Chinese bank and will soon be tabled before the federal government.

He pointed out that in addition to the light rail, the Kano state government had approved over two billion naira for the procurement of mass transit buses to ease transport problems in the state.

” We have signed an MOU for the construction of light rail in kano.We are also trying to introduce mass transit buses through private partnership project”

Governor Ganduje added that, the mass transit buses will move around certain routes in the state which will go a long way in reducing exuberant transport fares, ensure security of motorists and passengers among others.
