Borno state Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum has directed the ministry for Higher Education and twenty seven local government areas to forward names of one hundred students for sponsorship to study Quantity Survey within and outside the country. 

The Governor gave the directive while declaring open a two day national workshop organised by the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors in Maiduguri.

Professor Zulum observed that Borno state has only nine registered quantity surveyors describing the situation as unacceptable. 

According to him, Borno State is currently in the phase of reconstruction and resettlement after more than decade-long insurgency. 

He charged the construction industry to deploy innovative ideas and strategy that will propel the economy of the nation forward in post covid-19 era.

President Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors Alhaji Mohammed Abba Tor said the workshop was holding simultaneously across the six geopolitical zones of the county. 

He explained that the workshop would provide opportunity for members to be trained on modern tools of cost management and planning in a period of recession. 

The workshop has as its theme “Importance of Resource Schedule for inclusive Development of the Construction Industry”.
