Kaduna State independent electoral commission has announced August 14th as new date for conduct of local government elections.

Acting chairman of the commission Ibrahim Sambo announced the dates in kaduna.

Ibrahim Sambo Ikara said following a meeting held by members, the commission resolved not to extend date for the submission of lists of candidates by political parties for the upcoming local government election in the state.

He said the commission would stand by results of primary election earlier submitted by political parties in line with section 30 sub section 1 of kaduna state independent electoral act.

Ibrahim Sambo further confirmed that by virtue of section 22, law no 2 of 2021 of the kaduna state independent electoral act that vested in them the powers to fix dates for elections, the commission had fixed Saturday 14th August 2021 for conduct of local government council election in the state.

In a remark, the commissioner of police Musa Muri represented by ACP in charge of operations assured command’s readiness to guaranty peace and smooth conduct of the election.

The meeting was attended by representatives of political parties, security agencies and civil society organisations where it was disclosed that eleven political parties would participate in the election.
